HOOPS Stream Debut Album via Hype Machine & Start U.S. Tour Next Month

Bloomington, Indiana's Hoops will release their full-length debut album Routines on May 5th via Fat Possum, but the record can be heard one week early courtesy of Hype Machine. A bittersweet and honest record that was masterfully crafted by the band's three songwriters, Routines is full of blissed-out hyper-melodic songs, built around power-pop chords, deceptively complex drum patterns, and rock-anthem sentiments. Listen to your new favorite summertime album and one of 2017's best debuts HERE.

SLOW DANCER Shares "It Goes On" Video via Billboard, Starts First U.S. Tour in June

Melbourne, Australia's Slow Dancer - the moniker of singer, songwriter and multi- instrumentalist Simon Okely - will release his stunning new album In A Mood on June 9th via ATO Records, and today he shares a simply moving music video for its current single "It Goes On." Watch the video here via Billboard, and read their profile on Slow Dancer.

I wrote the treatment for the ‘It Goes On’ video with my ex lover of 14 years. We wanted to explore what the things we choose say about us. I have a theory about writing love songs; they are a curse; they inadvertently herald the end of the very relationship they here intended to praise. In this instance, I was painfully correct. We filmed my sections in the room I’d just moved into fresh after the breakup. I took only a suitcase of clothes, my grandmother’s fan and my songwriting equipment. After the first edit of the video came back, I was embarrassed by how bare my room was in comparison to the couples’. My cheap, new, self-constructed furniture was void of any real character. It’s honest though - a guiding principle! - and now I’m kinda glad we captured that space at that time.
— Okely explains the deep meaning for the subtle yet striking music video

JAY SOM Shares New Song & Announces Fall U.S. Tour

Last month, Jay Som released her stunning break-out album entitled Everybody Works which debuted on the Billboard Independent Album and Heatseekers charts, and earned her a "Best New Music" review from Pitchfork, as well as international accolades from the likes of New York Times, The New Yorker, NPRRolling Stone and many more. Today, the Bay Area artist shares a new original song for Our First 100 Days, a campaign which aims to help protect causes that are threatened by Trump's administration. Bonobo Shares New Video for Bambro Koyo Ganda (feat. Innov Gnawa) - On Tour Now In North America

Amidst the waves of praise Bonobo has received both for the release of his latest record Migration and the live tour he and his band have recently embarked on comes a video for the new single ‘Bambro KoyoGanda’, an expansive track featuring vocals from Moroccan by-way-of New York City band Innov Gnawa. Perhaps more than any other tune on the album, ‘Bambro’ sonically embodies what Migration is - a journey through cultural and locational displacement and the strange familiarity that inevitably surfaces out of transient life. The single (a highlight of the live show) effortlessly weaves Moroccan styles into his signature dance music and culminates in a near-mystical experience as Innov Gnawa’s chants echo over a dizzying, house-driven groove that manages to mesmerize and relinquish in one fell swoop. The video, directed by Stylewar, depicts scenes from around the world that unfold in synchronicity with the track, with the pulse of the environment lining up perfectly, and subtly, with the song's beat. It reflects the universality and singularity of the world seen through the eyes of a traveller; no matter the disparate location there is a common rhythm.

The music of Bonobo is incredibly rich and colorful. It feels as if it was inspired by the indescribable beauty of the natural world. I wanted the video to have an equally inspired and colourful feeling. The world is full of music and rhythm — look carefully and it’s everywhere you go. It’s at the core of our wonderful planet, and I wanted the video to celebrate that fact. The video is a vast collection of material, including some footage shot specifically for this video as well as existing footage from around the world. Then, through the magic of editing, we endeavored to make every movement in the video correspond to the movement of the music, whether to its rhythm or to the very notes themselves. If you look closely, you should notice that the smallest details have been tweaked to sync the music to the movement. Like the music of Bonobo, it celebrates the rhythmic beauty of our world.
— Director Stylewar on the "Bambro Koyo Ganda" video

Saltland Shares "Light of Mercy" Video - Donating 100% of Bandcamp Sales to 350.org This Week

Saltland, cellist and activist Rebecca Foon, has shared a new video for “Light Of Mercy,” a standout from her new album A Common Truth. The video reflects the album’s themes of a changing planet, depicting a collage-like environment of rock and ice that slowly changes and becomes more intensely stark as the song progresses, eventually being engulfed by a deep red sky. It was directed by Brigitte Henry, and premiered this morning via PopMatters. The song is a perfect example of the incredible balance of beauty and melancholy that Foon employs throughout the album, which is out now on Constellation.
